Early risers can race to their television sets Sunday for ABC’s live coverage of the Indianapolis 500.
Although the green flag goes up at 9 a.m., the network’s telecast begins at 8 a.m. (7)(3)(10)(42), with Paul Page, Sam Posey and Bobby Unser among those reporting from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
ABC’s other big TV event this weekend is the Memorial Golf Tournament from Dublin, Ohio. With $1 million in prize money at stake, the tourney airs today at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (7) (3)(42).
In tennis, commercial and cable TV will serve up coverage of the French Open Championships. Today’s telecast on ESPN can be seen from 6-11 a.m., while Dick Enberg and Bud Collins will collaborate Sunday on NBC from 10 a.m.-noon (4)(36)(39).
On the basketball court, CBS carries Game Three of the Boston-Detroit series today at 12:30 p.m. That’s also the starting time Sunday for Game Four of the series between the Lakers and Mavericks in Dallas on (2)(8).
