Henry Hearns, the youngest brother of boxer Thomas Hearns, has been convicted of second-degree murder for shooting his fiancee two nights before his brother fought Sugar Ray Leonard to a draw.

The jury deliberated about six hours over two days before returning the verdict Tuesday. The jury also convicted Hearns of using a firearm to commit a felony.

Hearns, 23, was charged with first-degree murder in the June 10 slaying of Nancy Barile, 19, of Shelby Township. Barile was shot in the boxer’s Southfield home.
