CS Long Beach Plays Host to Boise State

Cal State Long Beach will try for its second consecutive victory in a nonconference football game against Boise State today at 1 p.m. in Veterans Stadium.

Coach George Allen, who got his first victory last week when Long Beach (1-3) beat University of the Pacific, 28-7, is hoping the 49ers will not be overconfident against the Division I-AA Broncos.

“Gee whiz, if they are, we’re all in trouble,” Allen said. “This team is the Fresno State of their conference. They will outweigh us 18 to 20 pounds in the line.”

Boise State, which defeated Boston University last week, 34-21, is 3-1 and ranked 14th in Division I-AA. The Broncos have stopped the run but have given up 230 yards passing a game.

Long Beach quarterback Todd Studer passed for 296 yards and three touchdowns last week.
