THE SIDELINES : Nebraska QB Won’t Be Charged
No charges have been filed against Nebraska quarterback Mickey Joseph in connection with his arrest on suspicion of criminal mischief Sept. 27, authorities said today.
“We can’t file anything at the moment because we have witnesses who are uncooperative and contradictory in their statements,” said Lancaster County Atty. Mike Heavican.
Joseph, 22, was arrested after trying to enter a second-story apartment through a window.
Cornhuskers Coach Tom Osborne and Joseph’s attorney have said the incident was a misunderstanding that developed when Joseph tried to enter his girlfriend’s apartment to get his course syllabus and accidentally broke the window.
According to police reports, the girlfriend’s roommate told officers there had been a domestic dispute going on for several hours before the incident occurred.
