The 1992 Breeders’ Cup races will be run at Santa Anita.

Officials for the Oak Tree Racing Assn., which leases Santa Anita for the fall racing meeting, and the Breeders’ Cup have come to terms after months of negotiations. The official announcement is expected after this year’s Breeders’ Cup, set for Belmont Park in New York on Oct. 27.

Three of the first four Breeders’ Cups were held in California, but the races haven’t been run on the West Coast since 1987, when Hollywood Park was the site. Hollywood Park also had the first Breeders’ Cup, in 1984, and the races were run at Santa Anita in 1986.

Next year’s Breeders’ Cup is scheduled for Churchill Downs in Louisville.
