Glendora : Mini-Mart Can Sell Alcohol
After more than three hours of public testimony, the City Council voted 4 to 1 to allow alcoholic beverage sales at an Arco AM/PM Mini-Mart planned for 465 W. Foothill Blvd.
Many in the standing-room-only crowd objected to the sale of gasoline and alcohol at the same location, arguing that it would make it easier for people to drive drunk.
But proponents of the gasoline station said if people want alcohol, it would still be easily available, so prohibiting an Arco station from selling it would be pointless.
Only Councilman Marshall Mouw voted against the proposal to allow alcohol sales at the store. Construction of the mini-mart is expected to begin this fall.
