Pasadena : Funds Restored for Police
The city’s newly hired police chief, Jerry Oliver, persuaded the City Council Tuesday to restore $148,225 annually for two police officer jobs cut during budget deliberations.
Oliver said the officers will expand the Police Department’s community outreach and media information services.
The two positions will also enable him to conduct financial audits and reviews of officers involved in shootings, Oliver said.
City Manager Philip Hawkey had proposed cutting four sworn officer positions from the 220-officer department.
But the council earlier had restored two of those positions and had decided to let Oliver decide if he needed the other two.
