Music Prompted Insanity: The rap music of the Houston-based Geto Boys allegedly “hypnotized” five stoned and inebriated teen-agers, causing one to randomly shoot and kill a 26-year-old stranger on April 16 in Dodge City, Kan., defense attorneys for those charged with the crime say. While several parents in recent years have attempted to sue pop artists such as Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest for the suicide deaths of their sons, the Dodge City trial--scheduled to convene on Sept. 18--is believed to be the first case in which a music-prompted insanity plea has been cited as a defense for murder.
