Ventura : Police Seek Woman in 7 Arson Incidents

Share

Authorities are looking for a 53-year-old homeless woman in connection with arsons at seven Ventura businesses since January, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office said.

A $10,000 warrant was issued for the arrest of Dianne Marie Drummond on Tuesday, Deputy Dist. Atty. Richard Simon said Wednesday. She is thought to be living in the downtown area.

Drummond was arrested on suspicion of attempted arson Sunday after police found her about 4:30 a.m. near a burning newspaper at the Bombay Bar and Grill at 143 S. California St., Simon said.

However, she was released the same day because a judge ruled that there was insufficient evidence to hold her.

But on Tuesday, the district attorney’s office reviewed the case and charged Drummond in four incidents, the prosecutor said.
