Share

Gavin Vanderputten had 27 points and 13 rebounds--all in the second half--as Trabuco Hills rallied to defeat Las Vegas, 77-62, in the first round of the Las Vegas Eldorado tournament Thursday.

Coach Rainer Wulf had hoped to rest his 6-10 center, who sustained a broken nose in Saturday’s victory over San Dieguito High, but inserted him into the game because Trabuco Hills (8-3) trailed, 39-31, at halftime.

Vanderputten hit 12 of 19 shots and also blocked three Las Vegas shots. Pat Barnes finished with 16 points and six rebounds for Trabuco Hills and Corey Klinke added 14 points and eight rebounds before fouling out.
