Program Offers Free Legal Aid to Elderly Poor
The Los Angeles City Community Development Department and Bet Tzedek Legal Services are sponsoring a program to bring free legal assistance to poor people over 60.
The program specializes in problems relating to housing, Medicare, Medi-Cal, Social Security and other government benefits, wills, consumer fraud, foreclosure and nursing home problems. Bet Tzedek, or the House of Justice, is a nonprofit law center.
A legal team will visit the East Los Angeles Neighborhood Center, 1333 Sunol Drive, on Tuesday. Other visits are planned at senior centers in Bell Gardens, City of Commerce, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Maywood, Monterey Park and South Gate. Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling the center at (213) 260-2824.
