In the two victories over UCLA, most people probably thought the big star for USC was Harold Miner. However, USC’s most valuable player in both games was referee Charlie Range. Some of his calls and non-calls were unbelievable.

Is it a coincidence that in the three toughest games the Bruins have had in Pac-10 play, Range was the referee?
