Phil Mickelson will make his professional debut at the U.S. Open after qualifying for golf’s national championship on Tuesday.
The reigning and three-time NCAA champion had a 132, including a course-record 63, at Farmington Country Club in Germantown, Tenn.
Lance Ten Broeck led qualifying at Germantown with a 131. Dan Forsman also had a 132. Other qualifiers included Jay Haas, Gil Morgan, Mark McCumber, Phil Blackmar and Willie Wood.
“I’m just excited because I can’t think of a better place to start a professional career than Pebble Beach and the U.S. Open,” said Mickelson, the four-time All-American from Arizona State.
The Open will be played at Pebble Beach from June 18-21.
