ROUNDUP : Buena Cross-Country Teams Win Channel League Meets
Senior Nathan Jobe and sophomore Amy VanAtta on Wednesday powered the Buena High boys’ and girls’ teams to victories in the first of three Channel League cross-country meets to be held this season. The meet was held at Dos Pueblos.
Buena, led by Jobe with a third-place finish, placed three runners among the top seven in the eight-team boys’ race and scored 46 points. Runner-up Dos Pueblos had 49.
Senior Donald Carmona of Hueneme was the individual winner with a time of 15 minutes 55 seconds over the three-mile course. Jobe timed 16:25.
Buena had five of the top seven finishers in the eight-team girls’ race, led by VanAtta, who placed second. The Bulldogs scored 28 points, Rio Mesa had 59.
MEN’S WATER POLO
Valley 25, Pasadena City 5--Steve Barron scored four goals to lead the visiting Monarchs (8-3) to a nonleague victory.
MEN’S SOCCER
Orange Coast 3, Moorpark 1--Marc Cargnel scored Moorpark’s lone goal on a second-half penalty kick in a nonconference match.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Cal Lutheran 4, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 1--Joey Arnold scored two goals in the first 13 minutes to spark the Regals in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match.
