The City Council last week unanimously approved a realignment of Ramona Boulevard to slow traffic where it turns from north to east at the San Bernardino Freeway.

Responding to residents’ complaints, the council Tuesday approved a $40,000 allocation of redevelopment funds to buy right-of-way property from Caltrans to sharpen the sweeping turn, just west of Burton Avenue.

An Oct. 18 article reported incorrectly that the Rosemead City Council voted unanimously for the realignment of Ramona Boulevard between Burton and Walnut Grove avenues. Mayor Margaret Clark and Councilman Gary A. Taylor voted no.

The realignment, expected to be completed in six months, will also let motorists see cross traffic at Burton Avenue from a greater distance.
