From Staff and Wire Reports

Attorneys for Philadelphia defensive lineman Reggie White and several hundred other players asked a federal judge to declare them free agents after the season. White was joined as a plaintiff by Pittsburgh linebacker Hardy Nickerson, New Orleans quarterback Mike Buck and former Seattle and Raider defensive back Vann McElroy.

If Judge David Doty rules that White has a valid class-action lawsuit, as many as 605 players who are in the final year of their contracts could be declared free agents as of Feb. 1, 1993.
