George E. Bodle, 84, a retired labor attorney who served as chairman of the Los Angeles County Economy and Efficiency Commission and as legal counsel for the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen when featherbedding became a national issue. In 1965, Bodle headed a special American Bar Assn. committee looking into compulsory arbitration for certain strikes. For many years he was general counsel to the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, served on the city Board of Water and Power Commissioners from 1972 to 1974, and was commission president his final year. He was a trustee of Loyola Marymount University and retired from practice in 1978. In Los Angeles on Monday of the complications of a stroke.
