Associated Press

Rookie quarterback Kent Graham of the New York Giants, making his first pro start, will be served up to the Dallas Cowboys today in the traditional Thanksgiving game at Irving, Tex.

In Pontiac, Mich., two young quarterbacks--Erik Kramer of the Detroit Lions (3-8) and Cody Carlson of the Houston Oilers (6-5)--will start.

Graham will be playing in place of Jeff Hostetler, who suffered a concussion as the Giants (6-5) lost to the Philadelphia Eagles last week.

The Cowboys (9-2) have a 16-7-1 record in Thanksgiving games.

Carlson will replace Warren Moon, sidelined because of a broken arm. Kramer will replace injured Rodney Peete, who could play as a backup.

In the most memorable game of Detroit’s Thanksgiving series, which dates to 1934, a defense led by Alex Karras sacked Bart Starr 11 times in a 26-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers, who came in at 10-0 in 1962.

In the Cowboys’ most famous Thanksgiving game, Clint Longley came off the bench to replace Roger Staubach and threw two touchdown passes to beat the Washington Redskins, 24-23, in 1974.
