Simi Valley’s personnel and budget administrator has been promoted to the new position of deputy city manager, officials said Monday.

Laura Herron, 36, will begin her duties June 28, replacing former Assistant City Manager Bob Hunt.

When Hunt resigned earlier this year to become city manager for the city of La Quinta, Simi Valley officials reshuffled Hunt’s duties and created the deputy city manager position in place of the former job of assistant city manager.

In her new position, Herron will earn $73,800 annually.

Her duties will include overseeing personnel and grant administration in addition to special projects.

Herron began working for the city in 1986 as Personnel Services manager, and also served as acting director of General Services prior to being named personnel and budget administrator.
