SIMI, THOUSAND OAKS : Fair Entries Can Be Registered Off-Site

Share

Residents of Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and other eastern Ventura County communities who want to enter crafts, photographs or other items in the upcoming county fair don’t have to travel to the Ventura Fairgrounds to register.

Fair volunteers will be at the Borchard Park Community Center on Reino Road in Newbury Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday to accept entries for four contests: photography, gems and minerals, youth and home arts (excluding baked goods).

Fair officials said they began several years ago to hold a one-day registration in the east county.

“It just seemed a nice way to let people know the fair is not only here in Ventura city. It also extends all the way down to the county line,” Lucinda Connelly, home arts superintendent, said.

Scheduled to run this year from Aug. 18 to 29, the fair is held annually at the county fairgrounds just off the Ventura Freeway in Ventura.

Last year, several hundred east county residents registered their entries during the one-day off-site registration, Connelly said.
