Jeffrey Pash, general counsel for the NHL, said an end to the nine-day walkout was not immediately in sight.

Before the talks in Hartford, Conn., on Sunday and in Buffalo, N.Y., on Monday, the sides were separated by about $1.5 million a year--about $59,000 per team.
