Florida St. Remains Alive, 34-3
It’s nice to dream, and that’s about all Florida State can do in trying to win another national championship.
“We only have two hopes left in regard to the national championship,” Seminole Coach Bobby Bowden said Saturday night after Florida State defeated No. 25 North Carolina State, 34-3.
“No. 1, we would have to beat Florida to have any hope,” he said, referring to next weekend’s game. “No. 2, somebody would have to knock Miami off so that we would be the No. 1 coalition team and get to play whoever plays in the Orange Bowl. Some people would have to fall.”
Danny Kanell tossed two touchdown passes for the Seminoles, 9-1 overall and 8-0 in the ACC. Nine Florida State players had to leave because of injuries. Four are out for the rest of the season.
The Wolfpack fell to 7-3 and 5-2.
