Capistrano Valley 3, Dana Hills 2--Johnny DiCorpo’s two-run home run in the third inning was the game-winner for host Capistrano Valley (5-4, 2-2).
Mater Dei 8, Mission Viejo 2--Fifth-ranked Mater Dei had nine consecutive hits in its eight-run fifth inning. Mike Hessman, Josh Townsend and David Sanchez each homered in the inning for the Monarchs (6-2, 2-1).
In the Empire League:
Katella 4, Century 2--Joe Fraser (2-1) pitched a two-hitter, giving up two earned runs and striking out 10 for host Katella (6-5, 3-1). Hector Vazquez had a double and two RBIs for Katella.
In the Freeway League:
Sunny Hills 7, La Habra 0--Greg Garand pitched a five-hitter and Mike McCue drove in four runs for eighth-ranked Sunny Hills (9-2, 4-0).
Troy 2, Buena Park 2 (8, darkness)--Buena Park left the bases loaded at the end of both the seventh and eighth innings before the game was called a tie.
In the Golden West League:
Santa Ana 4, Servite 2--Carlos Esparza gave up one earned run and five hits in six innings for host Santa Ana (5-5, 2-2). Kevin Taylor had a home run and Jesus Rodarte had an RBI triple for Santa Ana.
Tustin 10, Ocean View 5--Rick Gonzalez went three for four with four RBIs and Kevin Timone was two for two with three RBIs for Tustin (6-2-1, 3-1).
Westminster 5, Saddleback 0--Keith Bigelow pitched four scoreless innings and Jerry Alton went two for three with an RBI for host Westminster (8-2).
In the Orange League:
Savanna 9, Anaheim 6--Eric Duff hit two-run home runs in the first and third innings for Savanna (4-9, 2-2). Mike Manley went three for four with two RBIs and a double. Shawn Larsen and Jeremy Klemp each had two hits and an RBI. Anaheim is 2-8, 1-3.
Brea Olinda 3, Magnolia 2--John Stoddard had a two-run double in the fifth and junior Aaron Hough (3-0) pitched his second complete game for Brea Olinda (5-4, 3-1), which moved into a tie for first with the Sentinels (4-2, 3-1).
In the Sea View League:
El Toro 3, Woodbridge 2--Joe Smith (2-3) struck out six and allowed one earned run and Ryan Ruiz stole three bases and scored on Travis Vessells’ double in the first for El Toro (5-6, 2-2).
