Water Agency Rates to Rise 4.4% on July 1

Share

The water agency that supplies three-quarters of Ventura County residents will increase its rates by 4.4% effective July 1.

If water retailers pass the rate hike along to consumers, as expected, the average residential water bill would increase by about $11 a year, said Donald R. Kendall, general manager of Calleguas Municipal Water District.

The Calleguas board voted unanimously Wednesday night to impose the increase, which had been expected.

Kendall said the increase is necessary to cover the cost of making the county’s water supply more resistant to drought and earthquakes.
