SIMI VALLEY : 600 Pounds of Trout to Stock Lagoon

Share

In preparation for its annual Huck Finn Fishing Derby, the Rancho Simi park district is stocking the 2 1/2-acre Community Park Lagoon with fish.

On Thursday, district directors approved planting 600 pounds of trout into the lagoon to accompany the bass, bluegill and catfish scheduled to be dropped into the water before the derby on May 6, said district spokesman Rick Johnson.

“We probably won’t put all the fish in at once,” Johnson said. But he guaranteed plenty of fish for the derby, which will be open only to youth under 15.
