VENTURA : Consultant to Study County Efficiency

Share

Ventura County supervisors have agreed to pay a consultant $65,000 to study how the county can improve the efficiency of its departments and programs.

The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to approve the contract with David M. Griffith & Associates of Cupertino.

The study, which will take about six weeks to complete, will compare dozens of individual department budgets and staffing with information from other similar size California counties. The board can then use the findings to identify areas for possible cuts, said Michael Mount, vice president of the consulting firm.

In another move intended to help erase a $38-million deficit, the board directed health and welfare officials Tuesday to come up with their own recommendations for consolidating parts of their agencies, such as administration, payroll and accounting services.
