THOUSAND OAKS : Library Is Closed for Quake Repairs

Share

Starting today, the Thousand Oaks Library’s main branch on Janss Road will be closed for major repairs to its roof and ceiling, which were damaged in the Northridge earthquake.

The library’s books, magazines and videos are being moved to 2400 Willow Lane, the old city hall building, while the repairs are being completed.

On Monday, movers will arrive to shift the entire collection to the Willow Lane building.

Since earthquake repairs are expected to take at least a year, city officials decided to temporarily move the facility.

The moving process will probably take two weeks, and the new temporary library will probably not open before June 5. But in the meantime, library officials have extended hours at the Newbury Park branch.

The Newbury Park branch will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, closed on Friday and Sunday and open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
