HUNTINGTON BEACH : Storytelling Festival to Launch Program
The Central Library will host a Carnival of Folktales Storytelling Festival on June 20 to celebrate the opening of a summer reading program for children.
The event, from noon to 4 p.m. at the library, 7111 Talbert Ave., will feature eight multicultural folk-tale sessions. Other summer reading programs will continue through Aug. 18.
Last year, more than 4,000 children and their parents participated in the reading program, officials said.
The program also will provide international music, marionettes, face painting and folk dancing. Children will be able to make crafts and play games from around the world.
Tickets for the various activities will cost 50 cents and up and will be sold from noon to 3:30 p.m. on the day of the event. The reading program is free.
