San Gabriel Valley : City Hall to Get Quake Repairs
Poor San Gabriel City Hall, with huge cracks in its mission-style building from the January, 1994, Northridge earthquake and, up until now, no money for repairs.
The earthquake damage was so bad that workers had to tear down the building’s historic 50-foot tower, which threatened to pull down the second floor.
Finally, the white horse has arrived.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has pledged $550,000 to repair earthquake damage at the 72-year-old City Hall, Assistant City Administrator John Nowak said.
Renovation work is scheduled to start Oct. 1.
