Animal-Control Pact With County Renewed
City officials have agreed to continue contracting with the county for animal-control services in the new fiscal year, which begins Monday.
The City Council voted to renew the contract, which includes rounding up strays and providing shelter for lost pets. City Manager Daniel E. Keen said the cost will depend on the amount of service.
“The charges are based on the number of calls and the number of animals impounded for the City of La Palma,” Keen wrote in a memo to the council. “Pet licensing fees collected from residents of La Palma offset these charges.”
The contract includes investigations of animal bites and removal of dead animals in public places.
