Man Held in Attempted Robbery of Vendor
Police arrested an 18-year-old man Saturday after he allegedly tried to rob a pushcart ice cream vendor, authorities said.
The attempted robbery took place about 2:40 p.m. near Cooper Road and North Hayes Avenue in the La Colonia area of Oxnard, according to Oxnard Police Officer Robert Eckman.
Witnesses reported the attempted heist, and the suspect ran away when police arrived.
After a brief foot chase, officers arrested Miguel Peralta Rodriguez of Oxnard on suspicion of armed robbery.
Police say the weapon was a fence post with protruding nails.
The ice cream vendor was not injured, authorities said.
