Laker update--The availability of Nick Van Exel, out the last three games because of a bruised bone in his left knee, won’t be known until today. If he and Shaquille O’Neal both play, the Lakers will have all players available for the first time since Feb. 12, the first game after the All-Star break. Elden Campbell has started both games since returning from three games on the sideline but has lasted only 20 and 19 minutes while being hampered by the bruised buttock.

Sun update--They had won 10 in a row heading into Thursday night’s game at Sacramento, making the Suns the first team to have double-digit streaks in wins and losses in the same season. The turnaround has the club that started 0-13 dueling with Minnesota for No. 6 in the West. The Timberwolves have the tiebreaker over the Suns. Cedric Ceballos will be facing the Lakers for the first time since being traded for Robert Horry.
