Residents to Hold Vigil to Honor Slain Deputy
A candlelight vigil to protest violence and to remember Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Hoenig will be held Friday in South Gate.
Hoenig was shot and killed while on patrol in South Gate last month.
“We’re proud of our community for the tremendous outpouring we saw after the death of Deputy Hoenig,” said Mayor Bill Martinez. “They have taken the initiative to gather together in his memory to address violence and what we can do to bring it to an end.”
The vigil will begin at 6 p.m. at Montara Avenue School, 10018 Montara Ave.
