Hebert’s Agent, Ferreira Meet, but Fail to Agree on Contract

The agent for Mighty Ducks goalie Guy Hebert said he met with General Manager Jack Ferreira on Thursday for five hours, but they did not reach an agreement on a contract.

“We went over all the statistics of all the goalies to try to see where Guy fits in in the league,” said Brian Cook, Hebert’s agent. “Jack will take that back to his management group to make a decision whether to lock Guy up now for a long term or have him go to arbitration.”

If the Ducks do not sign Hebert to a long-term deal, an arbitration hearing will be held Aug. 11.

“It’s money really, not the years [of the contract],” Cook said. “The length is not as much at issue as trying determine what Guy’s compensation should be.”

Ferreira, who returns to Anaheim today, did not return telephone calls.
