Cleanup Drive Targets Graffiti, Trash Near Housing Projects

Share

Boyle Heights residents are holding a spring neighborhood cleanup Saturday to paint out graffiti and get rid of trash around public housing projects.

More than 100 volunteers are expected to help in the effort organized by IMPACTO, a Boyle Heights outreach group.

“It’s important because we have children who live where there’s demolition going on,” said Erica Parra, a staff member at IMPACTO. “There’s so much trash around their houses and gang graffiti on the walls. We just want to make a safer environment for these kids and their families.”
