City officials need more time to evaluate the latest proposal for an 85-foot-high electronic freeway sign advertising Harbor Boulevard of Cars before giving it conceptual approval. The proposal was brought to the council this week after two other proposals filed by independent sign companies were withdrawn after protests from residents.

The new proposal is for a sign on the Harbor Boulevard median just south of the San Diego Freeway. The sign would feature three sections, including an electronic reader board and a rotating copy sign.
