Williams Powers Portland to Victory

Natalie Williams scored 28 points, 12 during the fourth quarter, as the Portland Power used a late rally Sunday to defeat the San Jose Lasers, 79-67, in front of 6,735 at Portland, Ore.

Williams also had 13 rebounds for the Power (19-11), and Elaine Powell added 16 points. Stacey Ford and Katy Steding scored 10 apiece.

Jennifer Azzi led San Jose (15-15) with 16 points and four assists. Katryna Gaither added 13 points and seven rebounds.

San Jose led, 66-65, with 3:50 remaining, but Portland responded with a 14-1 run for the final margin.

Columbus 65, Philadelphia 60--Shannon Johnson scored 15 points, including five in a row late in the game, to lead the Quest before 2,268 at Philadelphia.

The score was tied, 54-54, before Johnson made a shot, stole the ball and made a three-point shot with 5:30 remaining. Columbus, which had trailed by eight points in the final quarter, led the rest of the way.

Johnson scored 11 points in the fourth quarter and finished with five assists. Andrea Lloyd and Tonya Edwards each scored 12 points for Columbus.
