Security Guard Is Hit by Tractor, Dies
A security guard patrolling the grounds of a freight company died early Thursday morning after accidentally stepping into the path of a yard tractor.
Delores Ridley, 56, of Ventura was walking at Harbor Freight Tools Yard on Mission Oaks Boulevard about 2 a.m. when she was hit by a backing tractor, police said.
Ridley was rushed to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo to be treated for severe injuries and shock, authorities said. She died in the emergency room just after 5 a.m., a coroner’s official said.
Sheriff’s investigators have ruled the case an accident.
