Neagle Beats Diamondbacks
Denny Neagle limited Arizona to four hits in six innings to beat Omar Daal as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Diamondbacks, 1-0, Thursday night at Phoenix.
Neagle improved to 15-11, making the Braves the first major league team with five 15-game winners since the 1930 Washington Senators. Tom Glavine tops the Braves with a 19-6 record, Greg Maddux is 17-8, John Smoltz 16-3 and Kevin Millwood 16-8.
Daal (7-12) pitched well, but was hurt by a lack of offensive support. The left-hander yielded four hits and struck out six over eight innings.
Daal and Willie Banks retired 16 of the last 17 Atlanta batters.
Arizona has been shut out a league-high 14 times.
