Lancaster 28, Palmdale 8--Tony Ortiz intercepted three passes, led all rushers with 71 yards in 13 carries and scored a touchdown to lead Lancaster (2-5, 1-1) at Palmdale.
Lancaster’s Josh Pratt intercepted Mike Johnson’s second pass and returned it to the Palmdale 14. Four plays later, Dustin Stowe scored on an eight-yard run.
Four plays later, Ortiz intercepted a tipped pass, setting up his 17-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The Eagles led, 14-0, at halftime.
Palmdale (1-6, 0-2) opened the second half with an effective passing attack, marching 76 yards in 10 plays. Marcus Smith capped the drive with a seven-yard run. Palmdale closed to within 14-8 on Terry Furlow’s conversion run.
