Brea Gets Rolling in Second Half, Blanks Anaheim

Brea Olinda’s first three plays of the second half went for touchdowns and the Wildcats rolled to a 35-0 victory over Anaheim Friday in an Orange League game at Glover Stadium.

Brea Olinda (6-0-1, 1-0-1) led at halftime, 10-0, with the final three points coming on Cory Nicholson’s 32-yard field goal with 30 seconds left.

Kenny Washington broke through the left side of the line and weaved his way through Anaheim’s defense for a 71-yard touchdown run to start things rolling in the third quarter for Brea.

On Brea Olinda’s next possession, quarterback Brian Woidneck found Mike Davern open for a 38-yard pass play for a touchdown.

Ryan Fortner put his speed to work, catching a short pass and racing untouched for a 52-yard touchdown that gave Brea a 28-0 lead.

Brea added its final touchdown early in the fourth quarter on a three-yard run by Jeff Silber.

The Wildcats scored their first touchdown with 46 seconds left in the first quarter when Dan Scott caught a 40-yard scoring pass from Woidneck.

Anaheim (1-6, 0-2) had a chance to get on the scoreboard, but Enrique Orozco missed a 24-yard field goal attempt. The Colonists had received good field position when David Gutierrez recovered fumble on Brea’s 39-yard line.

Brea’s field goal was set up when Nick Stagnano intercepted his seventh pass of the year. A 30-yard pass from Woidneck to Seth Criner set up the three-pointer.

Woidneck completed five of seven passes, all to different receivers for 175 yards for Brea.

David Lopez supplied most of the offense for Anaheim with 45 yards rushing and six pass receptions for 31 yards.
