The Tennessee Titans lost Eddie George, made only seven first downs, got a lackluster performance from Steve McNair--and won an important division game anyway.

They did manage to score a touchdown on offense, something the Baltimore Ravens haven’t done in four games this month.

Randall Godfrey had two of Tennessee’s four interceptions, and the Titans extended their winning streak to six by defeating the Ravens, 14-6, Sunday.

“We made some mistakes. We did some things that we need to do better,” Titan Coach Jeff Fisher said. “But when you can find ways to win, like we did in this game, you’ve got some things going for you--especially considering injuries we had to overcome.”

The Titans played virtually the entire game without George, who sprained a ligament in his right knee during the opening series and did not return.

But Tennessee (6-1) intercepted Tony Banks three times and Trent Dilfer once in solidifying its hold on first place in the AFC Central over the reeling Ravens (5-3). Baltimore hasn’t reached the end zone since Sept. 24.

“I think we’re going to turn this thing around. I feel confident we are,” defensive end Michael McCrary said.

George was replaced by Rodney Thomas, who ran for 53 yards and caught a touchdown pass. George, coming off three consecutive 100-yard games, gained four yards on his only rushing attempt. He will undergo an MRI exam today.

McNair completed 11 of 21 passes for 101 yards but provided just enough offense to beat Baltimore’s anemic attack.

Banks was lifted in the fourth quarter after going 17 for 32 for 229 yards. Godfrey took an interception back 24 yards to put the Titans ahead, 14-6, in the third quarter.

Two the Ravens’ next three possessions ended with interceptions, including one in the end zone. Having seen enough, Baltimore Coach Brian Billick inserted Dilfer, a former starter at Tampa Bay who signed with the Ravens in March.

“I just thought it was the right time to do it. We just needed to make something else happen,” said Billick.

Dilfer took Baltimore to the Tennessee 21 in the final two minutes but could get no closer. Qadry Ismail caught his final pass inches behind the back of the end zone.
