Athletes Laboring Under Poor Assumption

Share

So, some former and current UCLA football players want to form a labor organization to demand better treatment from the NCAA. Give me a break.

These athletes have been coddled their entire lives. They get a free education. They get free tutors. They get free meals, room and board. They get the best medical attention of anyone in the country. Now they want more.

Think about the life of the “poor” student-athlete. If you attend Wisconsin or Florida State (a.k.a. “Free Shoe U.”) you get free or discount clothing from local merchants. If you go to USC, you have your girlfriend’s father co-sign a $21,000 loan so you can lease a $50,000 Cadillac Escalade.

Maybe what the poor student-athletes at UCLA really need are more handicapped parking spaces.
