Honors

Jay Caliguiri, a junior third baseman from Camarillo, has been selected the male athlete of the year at Cal State Los Angeles and Kasey Jungwirth, a senior volleyball player from Camarillo, has been honored with female student-athlete and academic achievement awards.

Caliguiri was chosen to the NCAA Division II all-region team and All-California Collegiate Athletic Assn. He hit 14 home runs this season and became the 13th player in Division II to hit four home runs in a game.

Jungwirth, an outside hitter and career kills leader, led Cal State L.A. to a 30-1 record and runner-up finish in the Division II Pacific Regional tournament. She has a 3.9 grade-point average in business administration.
