Sewage Leak Closes Bay Beach and Docks
Parts of Newport Bay are closed because a vessel pump-out station was found to be leaking raw sewage into the water, officials said.
The beach at the Balboa Bay Club, the Orange Coast College crew docks and B-H docks will be closed at least through Saturday, said Monica Mazur of the Orange County Health Care Agency.
City crews doing a routine dye test Wednesday at the pump-out station realized a line was leaking. Repairs were continuing Thursday. No details were available on how long the problem has existed or how much sewage has been released.
