Falling Rock Injures Boy on Group Hike

A boy was rescued from Modjeska Canyon after being injured during a group hike Sunday, authorities said.
The unidentified youth was on a hike sponsored by the Orangewood Children’s Center when he was hit in the head by falling rock near the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary at the end of Modjeska Canyon Road, according to Capt. Stephen Miller of the Orange County Fire Authority.
He was airlifted to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was being treated for moderate injuries.
