Big New Homes Belie Call to Conserve Energy
In the so-called energy crisis I bought into the concept of energy conservation. I bought fluorescent bulbs for my lamps and turned up the thermostat for the air conditioning.
Then as I drove around I kept seeing new subdivisions and new homes going up all over south Orange County. Each home was at least twice the size of mine.
If there is enough electricity for all these monster homes, why am I being asked to conserve? To enable more homes to be built to use even more energy?
Sure I will save some money using less, but not enough to make up for the resentment I feel for being fooled and played for a dope.
