Brittany Asplund, Simi Valley: The freshman, who finished with nine points, made a three-pointer with 40 seconds left in overtime in a 55-52 victory over Santa Maria Righetti in a Southern Section Division I-A first-round game.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Miguel Wenceslao, Chino Don Lugo: Had two goals and an assist to Alan Ponce in a 3-1 victory over Chino Hills Ayala in the first round of the Southern Section Division I playoffs.

Ben Van Der Fluit, Calabasas: Had both goals in a 2-1 Division II first-round victory over Rolling Hills Estates Peninsula.

Michael Gray, Rosemead Bosco Tech: Scored a goal and assisted his brother, Jonathan Gray, on another in a 2-0 Division IV first-round victory over Lompoc Cabrillo.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Erika Figge, Santa Margarita: Finished with three goals, two assists and five steals in a 9-2 victory over San Clemente in a Southern Section Division I quarterfinal game.

Danielle Carlson, Corona del Mar: Had six goals in a 13-7 Division II quarterfinal win over El Segundo.

C.J. Longeuay, Garden Grove: The freshmen goalkeeper made 10 saves in a 4-3 Division VI quarterfinal upset of second-seeded Downey.
