Deadly 6.2 Quake Collapses Buildings

An earthquake in southwestern China killed at least nine people, injured at least 200 and collapsed many buildings, official media reported. The magnitude 6.2 quake struck in Yunnan province, about 1,400 miles southwest of Beijing. It was centered in the town of Tanhua and could be felt 110 miles away, New China News Agency said.
Most telecommunications to the area were cut off, a provincial official said.
