Jones Breaks Single-Season Earnings Record

When La Premier Fleur ran second in a maiden race Friday, trainer Paul Jones broke the record for single-season earnings. The $1,687 picked up by the maiden pushed Jones’ earnings for 2003 to $3,531,720, breaking the record of $3,531,572 set by Blane Schvaneveldt in 1984.

Jones added to his total as Love That Gold and Marmeta banked $1,500 in the ninth.

The best race tonight brings Arabians Mucho Caliente and Kador De Blaziet together in the sixth at 4 1/2 furlongs. With close to $150,000 in earnings, Mucho Caliente will be seeking his third win in his last four starts; Kador De Blaziet has won two of his last three.
